The 64.4 metre blade is on show at the WindEnergy Hamburg event taking place this week (23-26 September) in Germany.
Hagen said Nordex reduced the turbine's sound power by making the outer section of the blade thinner.
"The outter section of the blade is even more slender than in previous designs," he said.
"What we've done is [design] a slender outer section with a family of blade profiles which is known to have very favourable sound power characteristics.
"That is the why the blade design is contributing to extraordinarily low sound power of 104.5dB for this turbine."
Hagen also explained that thinner blades help to reduce loads on the turbine, but other design features have been included to help combat increased load.
"With 64.4-metre blade length we are looking at increased loads in the root part of the blade. What you see here is an increased root diameter," Hagen added.
