WindEnergy 2014: Siemens low-wind turbine designed for Germany

GERMANY: Siemens' newly launched low-wind turbine has been specifically designed with the German market in mind, Hannes Reuter, head of onshore wind for central and southern Europe, told “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç TV.

Speaking at the WindEnergy Hamburg trade show, Reuter said that a prototype of the 3MW turbine with a new larger rotor will be installed next year.

"We see markets in Europe as going more towards low wind. [The turbine] is especially made for the German market, but also other markets that have that lower wind... like Poland and southern Europe, such as Italy and France," he said.

"[Low wind] is a competitive market but it's one of the biggest markets. The low-wind market in Europe is 70% of the market."
