Speaking to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç TV at the WindEnergy Hamburg trade show, he said that customers are still looking for high-wind versions of turbines. He pointed to Scotland, Mexico and parts of China as the key markets for such machines.
Gamesa has unveiled its new G106-2.5MW high-wind turbine at the trade show. It is an adaption of the company's existing medium-wind G114-2.5MW machine.
"[For the] G106 there is not much work to do as it has the same nacelle and almost the same tower as the G114. It's just a matter of designing the appropriate blade for high winds," he said.
Diaz talked about the possibility of constructing a manufacturing plant in Scotland, a plan that has long been mooted, but that some had seen as under threat from the referendum on Scottish independence.
"At this moment we are looking for the approval from the competence authorities, so we cannot say too much about that. But after the referendum we are looking for the possibility of having this approach in Scotland," he said.
