Burbo Bank Extension
Cable contract: Dong Energy has contracted Jan De Nul Group to Burbo Bank Extension's 25-kilometre export cable and the 32 inter-array cables.
The installation works are scheduled for spring and summer 2016, when the cable-laying vessel Willem de Vlamingh will be deployed.
The 256MW project is being developed in Liverpool Bay, beside the existing 90MW Burbo Bank. 21-Apr-15
Race Bank
Vessel selection: Jan De Nul Group has also said it will use its new cable-laying vessel, Isaac Newton, to install Race Bank's export cables.
The work is scheduled for summer 2016, in the North Sea off Norfolk and Lincolnshire.
In March, Dong contracted Jan De Nul to the export cables at the 580MW project in the UK North Sea. 21-Apr-15
Consultation: In addition, Cathie Associates is to provide geoscience and geotechnical engineering consultancy services to Jan De Nul Group, in connection with the installation of Race Bank's export cables.
Race Bank is planned for a site in the North Sea, off the north Norfolk and Lincolnshire coasts. 22-Apr-15
Westermeerwind
Halfway mark: Foundations has reached the halfway point at Westermeerwind, with 24 of the 48 monopiles now in place.
The pontoon De Schelde with a crane is deployed at the near shore project site.
The 144MW development forms part of the Noordoostpolder wind farm, where 48 turbines will be installed in the Ijsselmeer and 38 turbines will be installed onshore. 22-Apr-15
Azerbaijan
Site identified: A 200MW offshore wind project is under consideration in the Caspian Sea off Azerbaijan.
A site off Pirallahi Island has been identified to possibly supply power to a number of oil-producing enterprises in the area, which lies east of Azerbaijan's capital, Baku.
Backed by the country's Agency for Alternative and Renewable Energy, the €400 million project would be funded by loans from foreign banks.
Investors from the UAE, Germany and China have already expressed interest. It could come online around 2021. 22-Apr-15
Lake Erie
New partner: The county council of Erie County, Pennsylvania, is to join the Lake Erie Energy Development Corporation (LeedCo), becoming the first county outside of Ohio to join the public-private partnership.
Being part of the partnership allows the county council to help direct the development of an offshore industry in the area.
LeedCo is backing the 19.2MW demo project for a site in Lake Erie, off Cleveland, Ohio.
Erie County is located approximately 150 kilometres from Cleveland, on the banks of Lake Erie, northern US. 22-Apr-15
Gargano Sud
Project on hold: A high-level Italian cabinet committee has failed to respond to developer wpd's request for an update on the status of its project.
The committee had initially been expected to announce a decision on the project by July 2014.
A spokesperson for wpd said the company was no longer actively pursuing the 340MW project, which had been planned for a site off Apulia, southern Italy. 22-Apr-15
