Gamesa seals 90MW Indian deal

INDIA: Gamesa has confirmed a deal to supply turbines for two Indian projects with a combined capacity of 90MW.

The Spanish manufacturer will install 25 of its G97-2MW turbines at the at the 50MW Kavital project in Karnataka. It will also supply 20 of the same the machines for the Gunga development in Rajasthan.

Both projects are being developed by a subsidiary of Hero Group, an Indian motorbike manufacturer. This is the first contract that Gamesa has won from the company.

Gamesa first announced that it had made an initial agreement with an at-the-time-unnamed Indian company back in July. It said it will also provide operations and maintenance services at the projects for ten years.

The turbines will be manufactured at the company's local factories and are set to be delivered in 2015.

Gamesa has installed over 1.1GW and manages capacity of more than 850MW under O&M agreements. India represented 33% of the firm's sales in the first quarter of 2014.
