Turbine installation wrapped up at Borkum West 2

GERMANY: Trianel has completed the installation of the turbines at its Borkum West 2 phase 1 project in the German North Sea, with all 40 turbines now in place.

The Areva turbines are now all installed at the project

The installation of the Areva M5000 turbines means that the wind farm is completed except for the DolWin Alpha transformer platform being brought online. This is due to be tested by Tennet, with the connection set to start operating "later in the summer".

Installation of the first of the turbines at the project started last July, but was delayed somewhat by adverse weather over the winter months. The MPI Adventure vessel was deployed to carry out the work, operating out of Eemshaven in the Netherlands.

The 200MW wind farm is the first offshore project to be developed by municipal and regional authorities, which founded Trianel in 1999 to carry out large-scale projects.
