PNE said it is aiming to build 300MW in the UK in the next 4-6 years. It is identifying four sites in Ayrshire, Lanarkshire, Grampian and the Scottish Borders for potential wind farms.
The company said the Scottish Government’s support for renewable energy was behind the decision to set up the office.
Executive director Jan Koschinski said: "The best wind resources are in Scotland compared to the rest of the UK and along with the aggressive targets set by the Scottish Government, it made sense to establish a base here."
PNE is the latest of a number of companies setting up bases in Scotland.
Last month, Enercon managing director Hans-Dieter Kettwig told “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç that the company is planning to open a Scotland office in the first half of 2011. He said that Enercon’s focus would be on the onshore market.
Also last month, Gamesa unveiled proposals for an offshore wind technology centre in Glasgow.
Gamesa plans to invest over €50 million in the UK by 2014 and will base its offshore headquarters in London.
