Eurus awards Siemens 41.6MW Japan order

JAPAN: Siemens has won a 41.6MW turbine supply order from Japanese developer Eurus Energy Holdings for a project in Japan.

Siemens 3.2MW turbine will power the Eurus Higashi Yurihara project in Japan

Siemens will deliver 13 3.2MW turbines to the Eurus Higashi Yurihara project near Yurihonjo city, in the Akita prefecture in the north of mainland Japan.

The project is expected to be online in spring 2018, and Siemens will service the turbines for five years.

"Japan's energy market is experiencing a liberalisation of electricity retailing and the outlook for future wind power business is very promising," said Siemens Onshore Wind CEO Thomas Richterich.

Siemens has previously supplied 3MW turbines to Eurus' 18MW Akitako project in 2013 and the 51MW Yurikogen project in 2014. Both projects are online.

Japan added 294MW of new wind capacity in 2015, taking cumulative capacity over the 3GW mark to 3,043MW, of which 52.6MW is offshore.
