Envision to open US blade R&D site

UNITED STATES: Chinese turbine manufacturer Envision Energy will open a facility in the US to work on the development of rotor blades.

Envision is expanding outside its domestic Chinese market

Envision's Global Blade Innovation Centre will open in Boulder, Colorado, west US.

The new facility will be led by Kevin Standish, former Siemens chief engineer of blades, Envision said.

"This new centre in Boulder will focus on blade design, which will drive innovation and enhance our capabilities significantly. Envision's R&D centers are cultivating talent and facilitating collaboration with the best professionals in the world," said Envision executive director Felix Zhang.

In the US, Envision also has a global digital innovation lab in Silicon Valley, California, and a digital energy research centre in Houston, Texas.

A number of wind turbine manufacturers have facilities in Colorado, including a Siemens research and development centre and a Vestas blade facility.

Envision also operates a Global Innovation Centre in Denmark, where it is testing its turbines for the European market.
