Envision plans to complete the Kafjarden project by September 2016, which is the "first in an expected series of investments in Europe", a spokesperson said. The project is located near Eskilstuna, southeastern Sweden.
"We are very excited about this acquisition as the first project investment in our European expansion and believe that it will be a great opportunity to demonstrate our technological ability," said the company's executive director and head of international business, Felix Zhang.
To assist with its expansion in Europe, Envision has appointed John Childs as head of business development for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Childs was previously senior vice president of sales and marketing for northern Europe at Vestas and more recently head of onshore construction in EMEA and Asia Pacific for Siemens Wind.
Earlier this year, BTM Navigant listed Envision among the top 10 turbine manufacturers in 2014 due to its activity in the Chinese market, in which it was third largest.
The firm is testing three bladed designs as well as one two-bladed prototype at its global innovation centre in Denmark.
