MEXICO: Vestas has won a deal to supply turbines to a 149MW project in Tamaulipas, northeast Mexico.

Vestas' V117-3.3MW turbine will be delivered to the project in Mexico

Vestas will manufacture 45 V117-3.3MW turbines for the Tres Mesas project, with delivery expected in early 2016. The contract includes a ten-year service deal.

The project is being developed and operated by US firm Oak Creek Energy systems, but the order has been placed through "special purchase vehicles" Eoloca Tres Mesas and Eolica Tres Mesas 2.

In 2013, the manufacturer previously supplied turbines to the 54MW El Porvenir project in the same state.

Two companies, including Walmart de Mexico, have agreed power purchase deals with the project.

At the end of 2014 the country had 732MW of new wind capacity under construction, all of which should enter operation in 2015, according to Mexican wind energy association Amdee.
