Vestas announces 155MW Mexico deal

MEXICO: Vestas has announced a 155MW order from Sempra Energy subsidiary IEnova for a project in Northern Mexico.

The Energia Sierra Juárez project will be located near the US border. It will use 47 of Vestas' V112 3.3MW turbine, a new variant of the V112 platform. Delivery is set for Q3 2014 with the aim of bringing the project online by Q1 2015.

The deal also includes a five-year service agreement.

The project will connect to the existing Southwest Powerlink line at San Diego Gas & Electric's proposed ECO Substation in eastern San Diego County via a new cross-border 1.7-mile transmission line.

According to IEnova, the cross-border line is currently awaiting presidential approval.
