Google will purchase 43MW of power from the Golden Hills project at the Altamont Pass which is currently being repowered.
The power produced will offset the electricity used at Google's North Bayshore headquarters in Mountain View.
The repowering willl see 775 Kenetech KCS56-100 turbines be replaced with 52 GE 1.7MW turbines, according to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Intelligence, the research and data division of “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç.
The new turbines are due to be installed in 2016 and 24 of these will power the office campus for 20 years.
Google said this is the first agreement it has signed to power offices using wind.
Google has over 1.1GW in power purchase agreements with utilities to power its data centres in the US and Sweden.
This includes deals with NextEra to purchase 214.8MW of power from projects in Oklahoma and Iowa.
