Vestas picked for 21MW Swedish project

SWEDEN: Swedish wind developer Eolus has chosen Vestas turbines for a 23.1MW project in the south of the country.

Vestas will install its V126 turbines at the project

The Danish manufacturer will install seven of its V126-3.3 turbines on the Fröreda wind farm near the town of Hultsfreds.

As well as delivery, installation and commissioning, Vestas will provide operations and maintenance services at the project for five years.

Vestas launched the V126-3MW in 2012 as a low-wind version of its established V112-3MW turbine. The 3.3MW version was revealed in 2013, with the first sale made earlier this year.

Eolus said the turbines will be the largest it has installed on any of its wind farms. The company is developing the project on a turnkey basis for the Skane regional authorities as part of a five-project deal.

The developer owns and manages a wind portfolio with a capacity of 88MW. Over the last 20 years it has installed 450 turbines in Sweden.
