Eolus places new 26MW Vestas order

SWEDEN: Vestas has been awarded a 26.4MW order by repeat local customer Eolus Vind to supply turbines to a project in southern Sweden.

Vestas will deliver eight V126MW turbines to the project in Q3

Vestas will supply eight V126-3.3MW turbines to the Kristinehamn-Langmarken project in the third quarter of 2016. The manufacturer will also service the turbines for five years. The project is located in Varmland County, southern Sweden.

Eolus CEO Per Witalisson said the company intends to sell the project on once it has been completed. Two turbines already have agreements in place to be sold to the local Kalmar County Council and the City of Malmo.

"The project offers attractive investment opportunities in renewable electricity among other things, [as] the two won public contracts... show. Our intention is to divest also the remaining six turbines," Witalisson said.

Eolus is a long-term customer for Vestas, according to the manufacturer. In September 2014, the developer awarded Vestas a 23.1MW deal to supply the Froreda project in southern Sweden.

Seven V126-3.3MW turbines were installed at the project near the town of Hultsfred. The project was completed in mid-January 2016.

Vestas launched the V126-3MW in 2012 as a low-wind version of its established V112-3MW turbine. The 3.3MW version was revealed in 2013.
