Vestas wins 450MW US deal from EDF

UNITED STATES: Vestas has secured two orders with a combined capacity of 450MW from EDF Renewable Energy for two projects in the US.

Vestas V110 2.0MW turbine will be used at the Kansas project

The Danish manufacturer will supply 75 V110-2MW turbines to the 150MW Slate Creek project in Kansas, and 150 V100-2MW turbines to the 300MW Roosevelt development in New Mexico.

The orders are included under the master supply agreement that was signed between Vestas and the US-based developer in September 2013.

Under the agreement, Vestas has now supplied 944MW to EDF in the US.

Both projects have long-term power purchase agreements and are expected to be brought online by the end of 2015.

The two companies also have a supply deal for Europe, where EDF agreed to order 30% of its turbines from Vestas until the end of 2014.

The V110-2MW turbine is currently being tested in Denmark, where Vestas installed a second prototype at the start of May. The turbine already has several firm orders to be used at US projects.

Vestas also received a 124MW order from RES Americas to supply 62 V100-2MW turbines to the Border Winds project in North Dakota. Commissioning is expected by the end of 2015.
