Gamesa set for 70MW Uruguay deal

URUGUAY: Gamesa has been handed a preliminary order by utility UTE for 35 turbines to be installed at a project in southern Uruguay, subject to financing.

The country's state utility, Usinas y Trasmisiones Electricas (UTE), placed the 70MW order for 35 G114-2.0MW turbines, but must first secure financing.

The turbines will be used at the Valentines project in the Florida department, southern Uruguay.

“uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç was told that UTE has until the end of September 2014 to get funding. If UTE is unsuccessful the deadline can be extended, or the companies can end the agreement.

Last week, Gamesa secured funding from China Minsheng Banking Corp to build turbines for the 50MW Talas de Maciel II wind project being developed by Abengoa.
