Gamesa will supply the Colonia Arias project with 35 G114-2MW turbines. The manufacturer will also be responsible for constructing the project and its remaining infrastructure. Gamesa will also operate and maintain the site for 15 years.
Turbine delivery is expected in December 2016, with completion due in Q2 2017.
The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is the $179.7miliion project with a $71.8 million loan.
It is the second turnkey deal to be signed between UTE and Gamesa. In June 2015, UTE awarded Gamesa the contract for another 35 G114-2MW turbines to be installed and commissioned at the Valentines projects in southern Uruguay.
Construction at the Valentines project is expected to be completed in the second half of 2016. The project has also received funding from the IDB.
The G114 turbine (2MW and 2.5MW) was Gamesa's bestselling model in 2015, the company said at its recent annual financial results presentation.
