Gamesa signs 50MW Uruguay deal

URUGUAY: Gamesa has been handed a 50MW turbine supply deal by developer Astidey for the Talas del Maciel I project in Flores, southwest Uruguay.

Gamesa will supply the G97-2.0MW turbine to the 50MW Talas del Manciel I project

Gamesa will supply 25 G97-2MW turbines to the site by the end of 2014, with commissioning expected by the middle of 2015.

As part of the agreement, Gamesa will also provide operation and maintenance at the project for the next 20 years.

The Spanish manufacturer is also supplying 25 2MW turbines to the Talas del Maciel II project after securing the necessary funding from a Chinese bank in June.

At the start of the month, Gamesa was also handed a preliminary deal by Uruguayan utility UTE to provide 35 G114-2MW turbines to a project in the south of the country. The order is subject to UTE securing financing by the end of September.
