The site's developer Rame Energy said that three Vestas V126 turbines are set to be used at the project.
It is the first reported time that the 126-metre blade turbine will be used on the continent. It has been designed to for low wind locations.
Vestas will supply, erect and commission the turbines whilst Rame will undertake the civil and electrical work.
Construction of the Punta Chome project, located 435 kilometres south of Santiago, is expected to begin later this year before becoming operational in 2015 – subject to project financing.
In March, Vestas received an order to supply 30 V126 3.3MW turbines to two projects in Finland.
Rame also announced agreement of a 10-year power purchase agreement for the project with Chilean energy fund Empresa Electrica.
