Vestas wins Germany order from EnBW

GERMANY: EnBW has awarded a 41MW turbine order to Danish manufacturer Vestas for a project in Baden-Wurttemberg, southwest Germany.

Vestas will install 12 V126 turbines at the EnBW site with two different outputs and at two hub heights

Vestas will deliver 12 V126 turbines with a mixture of 3.3MW and 3.45MW output to the Langenburg project in the second half of 2017.

According to Vestas, the 3.3MW turbines will be installed with a hub height of 137 metres, while the 3.45MW turbines will be installed at a hub height of 117 metres, due to site specifications. The project is located in a forested area.

Following a met mast campaign at the site, EnBW found the site had stable wind speeds of 6m/s at 100 metres above ground.

"The wind solution provides just the right business case for the project and speaks to our ambition of developing wind parks with the lowest possible cost of energy", said EnBW senior vice president of portfolio development Dirk Gusewell.

EnBW currently has over 200MW of onshore wind capacity in Germany, with a target of operating 1GW by 2020.
