Korean conglomerate GS Engineering and Construction contracted the French firm to install 10 of its Eco 110 3MW turbines with 90-metre towers on the Gimnyeong wind farm.
Alstom said it expects to have the project up and running by the end of the year.
Korea relies on foreign sources for 96% of its energy supply. In order to diversify its energy supply and increase the production of domestic energy, Korea recently signalled greater investment in renewable energy.
In October 2013 a draft plan was made to the National Energy Plan to increase the wind power target from 7.3GW to 12GW by 2030.
Alstom has been active in South Korea for 45 years, largely in hydro projects, but has not until now secured a wind turbine purchase agreement.
