VSMC handed Dantysk cable contract

GERMANY: Visser and Smit Marine Contracting (VSMC) is to install infield cables for the DanTysk offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.

The first of the cables were laid by Van Oord last year

The developers of the 288MW project, utilities Vattenfall and Stadtwerke München, handed the offshore cable specialists the contract for the remaining cables.

VSMC will first complete the termination of the cables that have already been installed, and the remaining cables will beinstalled and completed in April.

Work on laying the cables was started in July last year by Van Oord, but operations were stopped in the autumn after around half of the cables had been laid.

The project will be made up of 80 Siemens 3.6MW turbines.
