The blades, towers and nacelles will be manufactured in Vestas' Colorado factories and are scheduled to be delivered and commissioned by 2015.
Developed from the long-serving V100-1.8MW model, Vestas claims the V110-s.0MW turbine offers an additional annual energy production of 13.6%.
A prototype will be installed in Denmark early next year with full-scale production starting in the second quarter of 2014.
The names and locations of the US projects have yet to be disclosed but Vestas has secured a five-year service agreement from EDPR once they are commissioned.
The projects are part of master supply agreement between the two companies signed in April 2010 to deliver up to 1,500MW of wind power projects across Europe and North and South America.
