The Spanish turbine manufacturer has agreed to supply Indian developer Greenko with 50 of its G97-2.0MW turbines for two 50MW projects in the states of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. There is also the potential for a further 200MW of turbines to be supplied at a later date.
This is the second India deal announced by Gamesa today. It has also secured an agreement to supply, install and commission 65 G97-2.0MW turbines to China Light & Power (CLP) India. These turbines, which will total 130MW, will all be installed at the Jath wind farm in the state of Maharashtra.
Installation of the first 50 turbines (100MW) is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2013, with installation of the remaining 30 MW scheduled for the end of the year. The project is expected to be commissioned in the third quarter of 2014.
This deal follows Gamesa signing a 75MW G97 turbine deal for a project last summer, also in Maharashtra. The company currently has more than 830MW of capacity installed in India.
Its largest supply deal to date has been the 2GW agreement with Caparo, signed in 2011.
