On 26 March, José Antonio Miranda, chairman and CEO of Gamesa China, signed a letter of intent with Ma Fuqiang, president of Hanas New Energy Group. They did not elaborate on the turbine model.
The 100MW deal is part of Hanas' 300MW second stage project to construct a 1GW wind power base in Yanchi county, Ningxia, scheduled to be completed by the end of 2014.
To date, Hanas has completed and connected to the grid the 200MW first stage project, using Vestas V90-2.0MW turbines.
Ma said "We emphasise the quality of our project. We prefer turbines of advanced technology, reliable quality and a high performance cost ratio."
José said Gamesa expected to cement a long-term and stable strategic partnership with Hanas to develop wind power in Ningxia.
Gamesa entered China in 2005. The Spanish company was the eighth largest wind turbine maker in China in 2012, with 265 new turbines installed, totalling 493.2MW. It represented 3.8% of the Chinese newly installed wind power market in 2012.
