Alstom will supply ten ECO100 1.67MW turbines for the Kawazu wind farm on the Izu Peninsula. The project is set to come online in 2015.
This is Alstom's second Japanese order from Eurus. It has also supplied turbines to the 10MW Satomi wind farm and is set to supply the 18MW Higashi Izu II project in 2015.
Alfonso Faubel, Alstom's senior vice president for wind, said: " This success is evidence that we are able to adapt our product to meet our customer’s needs as well as adhere to Japan’s strict building codes."
Japan's wind sector is set for growth following the introduction of an onshore wind tariff of Yen 23.1/kWh ($0.28/kWh) from July.
At EWEA 2013, Alstom Renewable Power announced an IEC class upgrade of its onshore ECO 100 wind turbine platform.
The series comprises the initial 3MW ECO 100, an ECO 110 with an enlarged 110-metre rotor diameter and the latest 2.7MW ECO 122 (122 metres).
