Alstom wins 1.2GW order for Brazil

BRAZIL: Alstom Wind has signed a EUR1 billion+ memorandum of understanding with Renova Energia to supply 1.2GW for projects in Brazil.

The projects are in the state of Bahia and will use Alstom's ECO 100 3MW turbines, which will be delivered between 2015 and 2019.

This is Alstom's second major Brazilian deal in the last six months. In September, the French company won two turbine supply deals worth €270 million from developer Queiroz Galvao.

Alstom Wind senior vice president Alfonso Faubel hinted at a possible Brazilian order during an interview with “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç TV (see above) at this week's EWEA 2013.

Faubel also spoke about upgrades to the three-turbine ECO 100 platform that will raise its capacity factor by 48%.
