Repower handed 20MW UK deal

UK: Repower has been handed a 20MW contract from Banks Renewables for a project in northern England.

The project will use Repower's M104 3.4MW turbine

The Penny Hill wind project, which is based in South Yorkshire, will use Repower's M104 3.4MW turbines. According to Repower, the M104 is the largest onshore turbine to be installed in the UK.

Rick Eggleston, Managing Director of Repower UK, commented:  "The 3.4 M104 is the largest onshore turbine we have supplied in the UK to date. I believe increasing demand for this turbine demonstrates the growing trend towards fewer, larger onshore turbines, as competition for prime sites intensifies."

The M104 3.4MW turbine was launched at EWEA 2010 and is designed for class II wind conditions.

Banks has 28 projects online or in development in England and Scotland.
