The project, located in in South Lanarkshire, southern Scotland, is being developed by Banks Renewables. It will consist of up to 26 turbines.
The original proposal for Kype Muir wind development included the use of 48 turbines. It was reduced to 26 following the environmental impact assessment and community consultation.
Banks Renewables, a subsidiary of the Banks Group, is the also developer of the Penny Hill Wind project in South Yorkshire.
The 20MW site is using six 3.4MW Senvion (formally Repower) turbines.
The Banks Group owns the 12.3MW Armistead project in Cumbria. It also uses Senvion turbines.
