The deal is for Repower's MM82 and MM92 2MW turbines and the M114 and M104 rated at 3.2MW and 3.4MW respectively.
Speaking about the deal, Repower CEO Andreas Nauen said: "This agreement is the start of the breakthrough of the Repower 3.XM series in France, after the successful ramp-up in other European markets. Moreover, our 3.XM series ideally suits the conditions on the French wind market."
It is not the first time Maia has chosen Repower. In 2008 it closed a deal with the German wind-turbine manufacturer for 338MW of capacity to be delivered by 2011.
Of the 169, 2MW turbines ordered, 129 were for projects planned by Maia Eolis. The remaining 40 turbines are being supplied to Maia's fully owned subsidiary Maia Power.
Maia Eolis is 49% owned by GDF Suez, which acquired the offshore wind-farm developer Maia EolMer from the Maia Group last year.
