Earlier this month, Acciona was handed the deal for the Atlântica wind farm by utility CPFL. The project will use Acciona's AW3000 3MW turbines.

Speaking about the deal at EWEA2012, Acciona director Miguel Nunez said the company had chosen to use concrete towers over a more complicated concrete-steel hybrid as it would allow it to build a plant near the project.

Nunez said the plant could be constructed in around a month. He added Acciona was using a similar method on an upcoming project in Poland and that the factory could essentially be shipped over, along with the moulds, as a form of tent.

He said: "The manufacturing with mobile buildings in tents is easy to install, the idea is to be able to ship the facility in containers. In a month you can have it up and running."

Additionally, the blades and hubs would be built in Brazil with the nacelle coming from Spain.

Apart from supplying and installing the turbines, Acciona will also oversee the operation and maintenance of the wind farm over the next 15 years.
