Siemens receives 145MW Brazilian order

BRAZIL: Siemens has been handed a 145MW deal by Brazilian energy firm Tracbel for five wind farms in the north-east of the country.

The deal, which is worth R630 million ($402 million), is for 63 wind turbines. The projects are Mundaú (30 MW), Fleixeiras I (30 MW), Trairi (25.4 MW) and Guajirú (30 MW), all in Trairi, and Porto Barcas (30 MW) in Parnaíba.

The turbines are set to be installed at the end of 2012.

Siemens received its first Brazilian order at the start of the year — a 78MW order from Empresa de Investmento Energias Renováveis.

At the time Siemens said it was anticipating further orders and is evaluating options to increase its activity in the country with the possibility of building manufacturing facilities.
