Vestas wins 90MW Brazil contract

BRAZIL: Vestas has been handed a 90MW deal by Brennand Energia and Brazil's state-controlled power company Chesf for two projects in the country's north-eastern Bahia province.

The Sao Pedro do Lago, Pedra Branca and Sete Gameleiras projects will use V90 3MW turbines.

The deal included a 10-year service agreement and Vestas’s AOM5000 monitoring services, which comes with a guarantee to ensure the blades are turning when there is wind.

Turbine installation is set for the first half of 2012 with the aim of completing the project in December.

Chesf was the big winner in the country's first transmission line auction in 2011 aimed at linking wind-power projects in north-east Brazil to the national power grid.
