Acciona commissions fourth Canadian project

CANADA: Acciona Energy has commissioned its fourth Canadian wind farm, a 45MW development in New Brunswick.

The project will use Acciona's 1.5MW turbine

TheLameque facility, which is located in the northeastern corner of the province, gives the company a total operational capacity of 181MW in the country.

The project will use 30 of Acciona’s AW1500 1.5MW turbines. It was developed by the Cooperative d’Energie Renouvelable de Lameque in collaboration with Acciona.

The distribution company NB Power will purchase the power generated at the park under a 25-year PPA.

The project has received financial support from the Canadian government under the ecoEnergy for Renewable Power program for a total sum of C$13.79 million, through a production incentive available for ten years.

Last month Acciona received $3million from the Iowa Power Fund Board, to which it will add $16 million, to install two 3MW test turbines near Cedar County in the east of the state. Acciona is planning to manufacture the turbine in the state.
