The turbine, which is based on the G128 platform, will be commercially available in 2012. It has a 120 metre tower and a 136 metre diameter rotor.
Gamesa said the swept area is 14,527metres-squared, an 13% improvement on its flagship turbine, the G128-4.5. The G136 also uses Gamesa’s segmented blade design.
Speaking about the launch Gamesa projects and sales general manager Javier Perea said: "The G136-4.5 MM, now commercially available for installation in 2012, benefits from the exhaustive validation and testing programme conducted on the G10X-4.5 MW platform."
At EWEA in 2010 Gamesa introduced the G128-4.5MW. The turbine featured a number of innovations, including a segmented rotor blades and a medium-speed geared drivetrain.
