The application deadline is April 28, 2011.
Cener has already allocated the remaining four of the six total positions at the Alaiz test site, located above Cener's Wind Turbine Test Laboratory (LEA) in the Sanüesa district.
The only company to reveal its allocation is Gamesa, which will install a 4.5 MW prototype. Cener maintains confidentiality regarding the other three.
With two positions still up for grabs, Cener’s wind department director, Pablo Ayesa, stresses the site is "unique". Costing €15 million to develop, it offers very high speed, high density and turbulent winds, characteristic of high mountain sites, but easily accessible by road, he explains.
There are offices onsite for users, who also have access to three synchronised laser wind detection and ranging systems, or "lidars". Winds have been calibrated by five onsite wind masts.
