The deal, which is Gamesa’s first supply agreement in the country, is for 129 G8X-2MW turbines. It includes a two-year maintenance contract.
At the end of August Brazil's national electricity clearinghouse Câmara de Comercialização de Energia Elétrica (CCEE), handed out 50 projects with a total capacity of 643.9MW in the country's second renewables auction.
Iberdrola picked up the largest amount of energy contracted at the auction. The price sold varied between BRL132.8 MW per hour and BRL137.9MW per hour.
The Brazilian deal is the second big contract to be won by Gamesa in Latin America over the last month.
In August a consortium headed up by Gamesa and Iberdrola won a contract from Honduran energy developer Mesoamérica Energy to build a 102MW wind farm.
