The manufacturer will supply the V100-1.8MW units for the 100.8MW Lake Winds Energy Park in Mason County.

The wind farm is scheduled to come online in late 2012.

The contract is subject to approval by the Michigan Public Service Commission.

Vestas has made a number of North American sales in recent weeks, including 142MW for a project in British Columbia, , 250MW for a Colorado wind farm, and a 570MW California order – the largest the manufacturer has received for a single site.

This month Vestas announced it would open a research and development facility in Colorado, where it has three manufacturing plants.

Consumers Energy says that four percent of its power comes from in-state renewable sources, and this should rise to eight percent by the end of 2012.
