FEWP, an Arizona-based company which changed its name from Celestial Delights in 2009, is looking to build a portfolio of wind projects across China. The company rebrand was designed to reflect this aim.
Wuhan Guoce, a turbine manufacturer, has been assembling 700MW of projects across a number of locations in the two regions. All of these are in various stages of development.
The most advanced of the projects to be sold to FWEP is the 50MW TianHe 1 project, which has all of its approvals in place and is ready for construction. The 50MW TianHe 2 wind farm is set to be built later this year.
Other projects include a proposed 100MW development at the 'Min Ying Development Zone', and a planned 500MW program dispersed across the proposed Taonan Project Phases 1-5.
The two companies have signed a letter of intent on the deal, which will see FEWP purchase the projects for cash.
China has undergone a radical expansion of its wind energy capability. Only three years ago, China's total installed wind power capacity was 5GW.
According to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç's Market Status Report, the country's enthusiasm for wind last year alone drove it to install around 12GW of new capacity, more than any other country that year. With total capacity of about 24GW, the country currently ranks behind only the US and Germany.
