Northland Power sells minority stake in Scottish offshore wind projects to ESB

Northland Power announced a deal with Irish energy firm ESB to sell a minority stake of its holdings in two offshore wind projects planned in Scotland.

Electricity company Northland said in a statement that it sold a 24.5% stake in the planned 1.5GW Havbredey and 840MW Spiorad na Mara offshore wind projects to ESB.

Northland retains a majority 75.5% stake in both projects, which it dubbed its Scotwind portfolio, under the terms of the deal.

Spiorad na Mara is a planned fixed-bottom offshore wind project due to be built around 5km from the west coast of Lewis, an island in north west Scotland.

Havbredy is a proposed floating wind project planned around 35km off the Lewis coast.

Both projects are in the early planning stages.
