A development consortium led by Scottish renewable energy developer SSE Renewables has revealed the name for its planned 2.6GW offshore wind farm off the east coast of Scotland.
SSE Renewables, Japanese conglomerate Marubeni Corporation and Danish asset management firm Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners have called their planned project Ossian.
It is named after a book series depicting quests of a third-century Scottish leader and his adventures at sea, the developers explained.
The consortium secured the 858km2 site in the ScotWind seabed leasing process earlier this year.
Following an additional allocation round earlier this month, auction regulator Crown Estate Scotland believes the leases awarded could host nearly 27GW of offshore wind capacity.
