Under the engineering, procurement and construction deal, Bladt will be responsible for supplying the 2,720-tonne substation and 1,360 tonne jacket foundation for the 800MW Vineyard Wind project off Massachusetts.
Vineyard Wind is being developed by a joint venture between Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and Avangrid Renewables — a subsidiary of Spanish utility Iberdrola. It won capacity in the state's first .
The firm said it would use local companies to help produce the substation but will also work with and ISC Engineering.
Bladt Industries and Semco Maritime jointly provided the substation for the 165MW Nobelwind site off the Belgian coast in 2016.
"We see this contract as a prerequisite for developing a future platform for collaboration in the US market," said Bladt Industries CEO Klaus Steen Mortensen.
"We are looking forward to develop our offerings together with local fabricators and partners in the US over the coming years offering our unique experience from the offshore wind business," he added.
Bladt had been lined up to supply foundations to the 468MW Cape Wind offshore wind site, also off Massachusetts, before the project was cancelled. Cape Wind was once expected to be the US's first offshore wind project.
