The manufacturer will provide the developer with a range of turbines, it stated, including models from its 3MW class with rotor diameters of 140 metres.
It will also supply its 4.2M140 turbine, a prototype of which is to be installed in Germany later this year following its unveiling at the “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç 2018 event in Chicago, US, in May.
Senvion Iberica, the manufacturer's Spanish arm, will expand its team of project managers and service technicians to carry out the projects for Alfanar Energy, the development arm of the wider Alfanar Group.
Alfanar Energy won 720MW in tender for 3GW in July 2017 – the largest allotment in the auction.
Neither company has identified which projects the turbines are destined for. Senvion, however, stated it will install and commission them in 2019. It will also provide full maintenance for the turbines for 20 years.
The turbine supply agreement is the second between the two companies this year. Senvion received an order from Alfanar for 300MW it won in India's third federal tender in February.
Manav Sharma, Senvion’s acting CEO, said: "We are delighted to sign the second contract with Alfanar this year and to successfully re-enter the Spanish market."
Alfanar is an engineering, procurement and construction contractor that entered the wind power industry in July 2017.
It plans to commission 2.2GW of renewable energy — including wind, solar PV and biomass — in India, the Middle East and Africa by 2022.
