The manufacturer is in line to provide a special purpose vehicle of independent power producer (IPP) Continuum Wind Energy with 108 of its 2.3M130 turbines with hub heights of 130 metres.
Continuum won 250MW of capacity in the western state of Gujarat in India’s fourth federal auction, which concluded in April.
Senvion stated turbine installation is expected to start in the second half of 2019, with project completion expected by the beginning of 2020.
The manufacturer will also carry out operations and maintenance (O&M) at the site for 20 years.
This is the second large-scale order for the first model in Senvion’s 2.XM platform within a week. Earlier in August it announced an order for a 205MW project in Chile — the first order for its 2.3M130 turbine.
Continuum, which is majority-owned by global infrastructure fund North Haven Infrastructure Partners, has 524MW of operational wind power, and an additional 30MW under construction, 1GW ready to build, and approximately 900MW under development, the developer stated.
It has previously developed projects in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
The 250MW project, which will be located near the city of Bhuj in the west of Gujarat, would be the developer’s largest to date, the company added.
