The announcement on 20 December increases to 12 the number of wind farms to win contracts in the round.
The round was initially set to award contracts to renewable energy with installed capacity of 1,200MW, including 550MW of wind.
But after the tender was seven times oversubscribed, energy minister Juan Jose Aranguren decided to expand the quota for each technology by 50% to capture the most competitive bids.
The winning wind projects were Enel Green Power's Pampa (100MW), oil firm Capex SA's Diadema II (27.6MW) and and San Jorge (100MW), and the 100MW El Mataco project owned by cement producer Petroquimicia Commodoro Riviadavia.
The contracts were awarded with an electricity tariff of US$40.27/MWh, the average price bid in the first part of the round by winning projects in the core wind regions of Buenos Aires, Cuyo and Patagonia.
Enel Green Power (EGP) said it will invest $130 million in the Pampa wind farm, its first in Argentina where it already operates around 4,500 of conventional generation capacity. The wind farm is due to being operating in the first half of 2020.
"This success marks an important step forward for us in a country that is aiming to significantly increase green energy's share in its generation mix," said EGP CEO Antonio Cammisecra.
