Greencoat buys majority stake in five UK sites

UK: Investment firm Greencoat has acquired an 80% stake in five EDF Energy Renewables projects in the east of England with a total capacity of 96.4MW

Greencoat's recent acquisitions include 80% of the 12.3MW, six-turbine Red House wind farm near Peterborough

The investor acquired majority stakes in the 16.4MW Deeping St Nicholas, 12.3MW Red House, 16.6MW Glass Moor, 24.6MW Red Tile and 26.7MW Bicker Fen sites from EDF Energy Renewables for a total consideration of £98 million (€111.4 million).

All five wind farms are situated within 40 kilometres of Peterborough, and comprise a total of 47 of Senvion’s 2.05MW MM82 turbines.

All of the projects were commissioned between 2006 and 2008. 

In August, Greencoat acquired the 69.5MW Corriegarth onshore site in Scotland from US energy company Invenergy for £181 million (€205.7 million), and a 90MW portfolio from JP Morgan, including the North Hoyle offshore project, for £105 million (€119.3 million). 

Greencoat has now invested in , with a total capacity of 694MW.
