AMSC and Inox have agreed to collaborate on a new 3MW wind turbine to be added to Inox's portfolio, which currently comprises two 2MW machines.
The turbine will be designed for the Indian market, where Inox was the fourth largest manufacturer in 2014.
"The development of a 3MW turbine reinforces our firm commitment to provide our clients with superior, energy-efficient, resource-saving technologies and ensures that Inox Wind continues to play a pioneering role in the wind-turbine industry in India," said Inox director Devansh Jain.
AMSC will also license Inox to manufacture electronic control system for its turbines. Currently, Inox imports all control systems from AMSC.
In November, Inox opened a blade facility in Barwani, Madhya Pradesh, as part of plans to double its production output.
The new blade factory expands production capabilities by 400 rotor-blade sets annually. The site is being further expanded to produce 400 nacelles and hubs, plus 300 towers per year.
