The new blade factory expands production capabilities by 400 rotor blade sets annually. The manufacturing site is being further expanded to produce 400 nacelles and hubs plus 300 towers per year.
Kailash Tarachandani, the company's CEO, said the new plant marked "a significant milestone" for Inox Wind. "The enhanced capacity will enable the company to maintain its position as the leading manufacturer of wind turbine generators in India," he added.
The company provides direct and indirect employment to 5,000 people. As well as producing two 2MW turbine models, the Inox DF93.3 and DF100, Inox supplies wind development services. It counts Tata Power, Ostro Energy, Continuum Wind, CESC and GMDC among its clients.
"With the government’s renewed thrust on the development of renewable energy, along with a supportive regulatory framework, India’s wind market is expected to be one of the world’s fastest growing," said Tarachandani.
The new site can produce the company's new 113-metre rotor, as well as its current 100-metre rotor.
Inox Wind’s existing manufacturing plants are located near Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and in Una, Himachal Pradesh. When all parts of the new site are functioning, the company's manufacturing capacity will be 1.6GW per annum, double the current capacity.
