Hero Future Energies awards Gamesa India deal

INDIA: Gamesa has won a 100MW order from local power producer Hero Future Energies for a project in Madhya Pradesh, central India.

Gamesa's G97-2MW turbine on a 104-metre tower has been designed for the Indian low-wind market

Gamesa will supply 50 G97 2MW turbines to the Dhar wind project. The site is due to for completion by March 2016. The G97 turbine was Gamesa's most popular turbine in 2014.

The manufacturer said the turbine will be installed on 104-metre towers and was custom-designed for the low-wind sites often found in India.

Earlier this month, Gamesa secured a turnkey contract from ReNew Power to supply 20 G97 turbines to the Lingsagur project in Karnataka, south-west India.

Gamesa's Indian sales by megawatt increased 15% in 2014, compared with the previous year.

The subcontinent is seen as a key market for the company, and earlier this year, data by Make Consulting found Gamesa was the largest OEM in India,with a 32% market share.
